On November 16, 2024,the School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering at Shanghai University ofEngineering Science hosted an important training session for master's degreesupervisors. The theme of the training was “Technological Developments in KeyComponents of Humanoid Robots.” The lecture was delivered by Researcher ChuJianhua, the Vice President of Technology at Suzhou Green Harmonic DriveTechnology Co., Ltd., who brings extensive industry experience and academicexpertise to the session.

During a one-hourlecture, Researcher Chu Jianhua delved deeply into the key technologies in thefield of humanoid robots, with a particular focus on the critical role of harmonicreducers as core components in robots. He pointed out that the domestic marketshare of harmonic reducers has exceeded 60%, and with the rapid growth of theglobal robotics market, the independent development of related technologies hasbecome increasingly significant. In his presentation, Chu emphasized thenecessity of overcoming foreign technology blockades and addressing the"bottleneck" issues to promote the healthy development of China'srobotics industry.

Chu Jianhua introducedthe background of Suzhou Green Harmonic Drive Technology Co., Ltd.,highlighting its position as a leading enterprise in the research andproduction of harmonic reducers. Recognized as a National Manufacturing SingleChampion Demonstration Enterprise, the company has received numerous nationaland provincial awards. He mentioned that the company will continue to focus onmodularization, standardization, and intelligentization to drive furtheradvancements in robotics technology.

In his presentation, Chualso shared the latest research progress on the core components of humanoidrobots, including topics such as lower-limb dynamics, reinforcement learning, and brain cognition and decision-making. He explored the potential applicationsof these technologies in the robotics field and stressed that interdisciplinarycollaboration and research are crucial for driving technological innovation.Chu called for greater cooperation between academia and industry to accelerateprogress.

The training sessionattracted many graduate supervisors who actively participated in discussions, sharing their insights and experiences. The event not only provided supervisorswith a cutting-edge perspective on technology but also inspired new ideas forguiding and mentoring graduate students.

The organizers statedthat they will continue to host similar training sessions in the future toenhance supervisors' professional expertise and mentoring capabilities, layinga solid foundation for cultivating high-quality master's degree students.
